  • Every figure on this page is the maker’s, copied from the listing of that watch.
  • Case sizes run from 20 mm to 40 mm.
  • No watch on the site is listed for swimming.

To pick a case size

Case size means how wide the case measures from side to side, crown excluded. These are the sizes the makers list:

Watch Case Strap or bracelet
BPK-WL-004 20 mm strap 7 mm wide
BPK-WB-003 25 mm, 7 mm thick bracelet 11 mm wide, 18.8 cm long
BPK-WB-004 27 mm dial, 8 mm thick bracelet 12 mm wide, 20 cm long
BPK-WL-001 29 mm square, 7 mm thick strap 15 mm wide, 19.5 cm long
BPK-WL-002 30 mm strap 210 mm long
BPK-WB-006 33 mm, 9 mm thick stretch band 16 mm wide, fits 16 to 20 cm wrists
BPK-WL-005 34 mm strap 16 mm wide, 21 cm long
BPK-WL-006 34 mm, 8 mm thick strap 16 mm wide, 20.5 cm long
BPK-WB-005 35 mm bracelet 16 mm wide
BPK-MW-002 37 mm, 8 mm thick stretch band 18 mm wide, fits 17 to 28 cm wrists
BPK-WL-003 39 mm, 8 mm thick strap 230 mm long
BPK-MW-005 40 mm, 10 mm thick strap 20 mm wide, 24.5 cm long

BPK-MW-001’s strap fits wrists from about 15 to 23 cm. The listings for BPK-MW-003, BPK-MW-004, BPK-WB-001, and BPK-WB-002 give no case width.

To measure your wrist

Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist just below the bone, mark where it meets, and measure the strip flat against a ruler. Compare that length with the fit range or strap length in the table.

To size a stretch band

BPK-MW-002 and BPK-WB-006 slide over the hand and need no clasp. They fit only the range the maker gives, so a wrist outside 17 to 28 cm (BPK-MW-002) or 16 to 20 cm (BPK-WB-006) needs another model.

To adjust the bracelet on BPK-WB-002

The steel bracelet has removable links. A jeweler or watch repair counter can take links out in a few minutes. Keep every link you remove: a return needs them back.

To read the water rating

Rating on the listing Watches What it allows
50 m BPK-MW-001 rain and hand washing; its listing still rules out swimming and diving
30 m (3 ATM) BPK-WL-002 to BPK-WL-006, BPK-WB-002 to BPK-WB-005 rain and hand washing, no swimming or showering
splash resistant BPK-MW-002, BPK-MW-003 splashes only
no rating given BPK-MW-004, BPK-MW-005, BPK-WL-001, BPK-WB-001 keep dry
not water resistant BPK-WB-006 keep dry, off for washing up

A rating describes a new watch with its crown pushed in. Leather and faux leather straps wear out faster when wet, whatever the case rating.

To care for a quartz watch

Quartz watches arrive with the battery fitted. When one runs down, take the watch to a watchmaker for the change: opening the case at home can damage the seal behind the water rating. Keep spare button batteries away from children.

To keep the automatic running

BPK-MW-001 winds itself from the movement of your wrist and has a 40-hour power reserve, per its maker. Left off the wrist longer than that, it stops. A few turns of the crown start it again. Pull the crown out to set the time: the seconds hand stops, so you can set it to the second. Keep it away from strong magnets, which can upset the timekeeping of a mechanical movement.

To look after straps and bracelets

A few habits keep a watch looking new:

  • after a hot day, run a dry microfiber cloth over the metal to take off sweat and skin oil
  • let a leather strap dry flat at room temperature if it gets damp
  • store the watch in its box when you are not wearing it
